Rejection of rectification - sec 154

05 October 2011 Dear Sirs,

I had filed the ASS Year returns of 2009-10 on 15/7/10 online, while doing the same considered Income from salry without considering the House Rent Exemption, considered total gross salary.

While uploading the xml the data was not capture (computed). in Nov 2010 received intimation from CPC to pay the balance Tax due of Rs.48,111/- after considering the TDS of Rs.36000/-

Filed Sec 154, few days back the same was rejected, can any one advise what will be next step to rectify the same, actually no need to pay, while filing the returns clerical mistake happened. In Sec 143(1) Chapter IVA deductions and loss from house property was considered as per my return only.

05 October 2011 I have not understood why u approached u/s 154.

If any thing u forgot in return or some information is incomplete or some data has filed wrong then u have an option to file revised return.

U could file revised return for a Y 2009-10 upto 31.03.2011.

Now apply to A.O. in writing regarding the issue in detail. If A.O. satisfies he will allow to file revised return. In revised return u rectify the information.

07 October 2011 Sir, Thanks for reply.

I filed the return lately. In that return I mentioned Income from salary as Gross Salary amount without reducing the Rent Exemtion.

I approched one of my friend and after discussion as belated return there is no option of Revised, so filled rectification (Sec 154) and sent all the documents through courier to CPC.
