19 January 2014 Hi,

I am a CA currently working into Indirect Tax. But i am not happy with my current job.
I want to switch my career.
I wish to go into Finance/Direct Tax domain.

One of my friend said that SAP/Oracle is also a good career. It gives a good package.

What should i do ?
Should i go for SAP or search for Finance/Direct Tax ?

Please advice.

19 January 2014 Firstly decide your core area of interest.Just because your friend is advicing you for SAP/oracle should not be the reason as to why you should go for it.
Your query shows your interest is in Finance/DT.
While if you choose finance,then SAP-FICO will definetely help you.But the thing is there are lots of lines in finance also like MIS,budegting,funding,valuation etc.So ,in finance also you have to decide exact goal.
SAP FICO is good option provided when you are interested in it.While original certification cost more than 3lacs ,you can get good knowledge within 30-40k if you do it from a good institute.Sometimes even they provide placements after course.But doing SAP in itself doesn't assures good package.It may take some time
