is it necessary to pay all direct taxes i.e., TDS, Advance Income Tax, Advance FBT, Self Assessment Tax ... etc through on-line from 01-01-08?

Yes.It is necessary to pay all direct taxes through online.

I donot think Govt has issued any notification to this effect yet.

It is not made mandatory for all categories of assessees. Only corporate assessees are required to make their IT/FBT payments online from Jan '08.

Yes. All the Corporate has to remit the Taxes through the on line from 01.01.08.
