Mid cap and small cap

15 December 2011 Can anyone tell me what is mid cap, small cap and large cap in relation to stock markets ??

16 December 2011 Classification is on the basis of Market capitalisation (MCap) of stocks. MCap means total no of shares of the co multiplied with the current share price.

These is no fixed ceiling limit for classification and different exchanges at different points of time follow different limits, but in general, Cos with MCap

Less than Rs 1,000 crore- Small Cap
Between Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 crore-Mid cap
ABove Rs 5,000 crore-Large Cap
