HRA : Employers liability reg. rent receipt above 10000/-

Sir,
We are a pvt ltd co. Our employees claim HRA benefit based on rent paid by them & receipt submitted thereof.
I want to know, what is the employer's liability regarding the rent receipt if the rent paid is actually 10000 or more ?
Do we need to collect the PAN details of landlord also from our employees ?
Pl reply & oblige.

Collect the Rental Agreement alongwith receipt. If pan is collected it will be a good identification for the tax department but not compulsiory. And also collect latest tax paid receipt of the owner of the building.

Statutorily it is not mandatory to collect the PAN No. of the owner of the building. But collecting it will be helpful for justification to tax authorities.
