26 November 2013 Dear sir, I have one question about HRA. i am living with my family and my row house is registered on my father name. i want know whether i can pay House rent to my father and claim deduction in HRA from salary income. pl.suggest it is possible or not. thanks & regards, mahadev

26 November 2013 Yes you can if proper disclosure and income accounting is done by your father while filing his personal income tax return. It should be genuine arrangement and your affairs should be organised in above the board manner by properly documentating and executed properly.
