31 March 2014 I have cleared first group of ca final and about to clear second in may 14. I have done M.com.
But I am quite worried (actually confused) about so many talks and rumors regarding future of CA.
Someone says CA has a bright future. While others say CA itself is not enough.
So i am confused whether i must do something more than CA.
My question is straight. What does it take to succeed in finance career.

Please guide me, which according to you among the below two strategies will help me to succeed in practical world.

1) CA alone is not enough for a good job, and I must have to do something extra.

2) If i say i am not a study lover then instead of taking multiple degrees or certificate courses, I should complete just CA and M.com and then focus on practical knowledge, soft skills, allied knowledge.

02 April 2014 I just want to say after reading all this... that u must need confidence to get job and to b successful in life along with the CA degree..

I m a ca and cs

first 7 months no job
than i got job as an ca

and in one year... my salary is doubled and now m the head of my accounts and finance department ...

so my dear ... log too bolte rahenge... just concentrate of studies.. trully trust me.. these two words CA with your name will make you different from others.... and that will b the first step of success for you...

so go for the option no 2.. best decision

05 April 2014 It is not degrees that you help to get job but degree + experience will only provide you good job, so if you are not eager to earn another degree try to be expert in the area that you like.

for example Many of lawyers are earning handsome money by concentrating in their expert area such as CPC & CRPC.
or many CAS are expert in taxation & accounts.

so in my opinion one degree is enough to get job it may be ca or icwa or cs or LLB.

but if you have to work in cream areas then you are required to earn more than one degree + practical experience in that areas.

05 April 2014 Thanks. But as you said that try to be expert. Here i get confused, that how to be expert?
For eg. i am interested in financial management and planning. Now with a degree CA i should start working in the field of finance or i will need additional course in finance and then to find job. Because accounts and audit are main work areas of CA and not finance.

12 May 2014 For finance, MBA finance is preferred instead of CA or if i want to work in Management accounting. Why will the company hire a CA instead of CMA.

I hadnt seen this ever in corporate culture ....

Recently we need a finance employee, and we had many resumes of mba finance and ca, we go for ca...

usually company Go's for ca regarding finance field
