My friend provided technical consultancy to private firm and amount received for services Rs.10,65,000/-from 4/2009 to 3/2010.Out of this, the firm made TDS of Rs.1,09,500/- u/s 194j and form 16A issued on my friend name.
On enquiries, some are told to get the audit report and some are told audit report is not required. Pl advice for further step.

since technical service is provided it will come under professional fees and hence liable for audit u/s 44AB as income more than Rs. 10 lakhs.
Also check whether service tax is leviable on the nature of service being provide by your friend.
