23 October 2016 My ca final attempt is due in may 2017. I am in my third year of articleship having registered in Sept-2014.

I want to register for ca finals in January 2017 so as to get new books for May 17 attempt.

Having said that ICAI is likely to come out with new scheme by November 2016 if not by the year end Dec 16.

In that case do I fall under new scheme of education and if yes- thereby will my attempt get postponed to November 2017 as a result of ICAI saying- 3 years completion rule to write final exams.

Please guide me as to when should i register...

Either register immediately to play safe (October 2016 and get old study material) or wait for Jan 2017 to get material applicable for May 2017 exams.

24 October 2016 Are you planning to study once you register in Jan 17 and get your books by Feb 17 for the May 17 exams??? Or have you studied already from coaching notes or any other book?

Jan 17 edition will not be the exclusive material applicable for May 17 exams, ICAI usually comes with a notification marking the changes made to the old editions relevant for the upcoming attempt. So you can easily refer such additions either online or buy it or borrow from friends.I would suggest register now.

24 October 2016 Thanks for the suggestion. I have finished my studies to an extent from coaching notes and hence not dependent on institute material now as i have my friend's material too. So if books are not the criteria for studies from october 16 to jan 17, will you suggest me to register in Jan 17 or play safe and get registered now to avoid new scheme applicability on me.
