26 July 2016 can cenvat credit avail on photo copy of invoice ?

26 July 2016 Generally you can NOT avail cenvat credit on xerox copy of invoice but practically there are many instances like this. In many cases cenvat credit on the same has been allowed. For safety you can lodge an FIR for loss of original copy or can get said xerox copy verified by Supdt of Central Excise of supplier.

05 August 2016 Strictly it is not an eligible document but it can be taken after following procedures. There are lots of cases on the point. Any act / rule does not provide lots of freedom but considering the practical problems, it is allowed.
