03 January 2015 yes excise duty is applicable under the chapter heading 26011110 of Central Excise Tariff act @ 12%

in my openion those goods are classified under chapter 25 of central excise tariff act
as per C.E.T.A rate of duty for those goods is nil
terefore in my openion no excise duty is charged on those goods

1. Iron ore: Entry no 2601 chapter 26 @ 12%
2. Iron pyrites is covered in chapter 25
3. All other are covered in chapter 25 at nil rate
