Complete process for Verification and Obtaining Certified Copies from ICAI

Results of all the levels of Chartered Accountancy May 2018 attempt have been out, be it CPT, IPCC or Final. The results released by ICAI are such that they do not really satisfy the major chunk of the examinees per se. So in order to curb the dissatisfaction among the examinees, ICAI has rolled a comprehensive online scheme to let the examinees apply for Inspection or obtaining Certified Copies of Answer books.

The scanned copy of the application {Scan as A4 (100DPI, up to 200KB)} for applying for the same is to be made online in a specific format (as attached below) by registering on the website http://icaiexam.icai.org/index1.php the schedule of which is as follows:

It is notable that verification of answer books, within the scope of Regulation 39(4), is carried out, by the office, suo motu, in respect of all applications for inspection and/or certified copy of evaluated answer copies before providing certified copies/inspection of evaluated answer copies to the examinees.

For Verification, three major aspects are checked:

1. Any unvalued question or part thereof
2. Any totalling errors in question or total marks on cover page
3. Any discrepancy between stepwise marks

The fee per paper for Verification is INR 100/- and for Inspection of Certified Copies is INR 500/-

It is to be noted that the Certified Copies are sent as scanned copies over E-mail.

If a candidate has applied for both Verification and Inspection of Certified Copies, the request for verification of answer copies will be handled first and once the same is completed, thereafter the Certified Copies of those answer copies will be sent. On an average, it takes about 6-8 weeks for Verification and sending of Certified Copies to complete.

So, it is suggested that in case of doubt, applying for obtaining certified copies is more beneficial as it will be sent after the Verification by the ICAI which will automatically reflect any change of marks. Although the fee for obtaining certified copies is a bit higher, but it definitely proves helpful for self-analysis as well as getting an insight on how the questions are evaluated by the examiners.
