Diksha Goyal, CA Final AIR 1 (Jan 2026 Exams), shares her complete preparation strategy, mindset and success mantra after securing All India Rank 1 in both CA Inter and CA Final. In this exclusive interview, she explains how studying 10-11 quality hours daily, maintaining monthly breaks and focusing on self-written notes helped her achieve consistent excellence.

Being the first CA in her family, she navigated the journey independently and balanced articleship at Deloitte India with dedicated study leave. She emphasizes that long study hours do not guarantee a rank; focused effort does. Inspired by A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, she advises CA aspirants to avoid pressure, stay consistent and give 100% dedication during study hours. Her story offers practical guidance for CA Foundation, Intermediate and Final students aiming for top ranks.

Diksha Goyal, All India Topper (AIR-1), CA Final January 2026 in an exclusive interaction with CAclubindia

How did you feel after securing AIR 1 in CA Final?

Diksha says she couldn't put her feelings into words. Initially, she did not receive a call from the President after the results were declared, which made her assume she may not have secured a top rank.

However, when she checked the merit list and saw Rank 1, it was an "exceptionally surprising" moment. She and her mother were overwhelmed with happiness. Later, she received the official call confirming her AIR 1, making the moment even more special.

What mindset shift helped you maintain consistent excellence in both Inter and Final?

After securing AIR 1 in CA Inter, expectations naturally increased - from family, colleagues and herself.

Her key mindset shifts were:

  • Maintaining momentum
  • Not settling for less
  • Working with full dedication
  • Having faith in God alongside hard work

She was clear about her goal: She wanted AIR 1 again in the Final and worked towards it consciously.

What was the most challenging phase of your CA journey?

The most challenging phase was the initial Foundation stage.

  • She is the first Chartered Accountant in her family.
  • She had no prior guidance from family members about the CA course.
  • She had to navigate the curriculum and career path independently.

Once she entered the course and gained clarity, things started becoming smoother.

What was your CA Final study strategy?

Her CA Final strategy differed significantly from the Intermediate level.

Key Highlights

  • Studied 10-11 hours daily
  • Focused on quality over quantity
  • Put 100% effort into those hours
  • Avoided unnecessary pressure

She strongly believes: "Volume does not matter. Quality and 100% dedication matter."

Instead of obsessing over 14-15 hours, she focused on productive study hours.

Did you follow a strict timetable?

Not rigid, but disciplined.

She followed a balanced approach:

  • Kept two consecutive days off every month
  • Watched movies, shopped and met friends during those breaks
  • Avoided touching books on those days

This helped her avoid burnout and maintain long-term consistency.

How did you balance articleship and CA Final preparation?

She completed her articleship at Deloitte India after initially working at another firm.

According to her:

  • Big 4 firms provide structured study leave.
  • She received 5- 5.5 months of dedicated study leave.
  • During articleship, she managed to watch at least one lecture daily.

She believes 5-5.5 months are sufficient for Final revision if utilized properly.

Which CA Final subject did you find the toughest?

She found:

  • Audit challenging (as many students do)
  • Indirect Tax (IDT) required extra effort because her articleship exposure was in Direct Tax

Her approach:

  • More revision
  • More practice
  • Clear conceptual understanding

How did you handle result-day pressure?

Yes, the pressure was real.

After being a topper earlier, people expected her to be in the top three again. That created subconscious pressure.

She admits:

  • She was scared.
  • She had self-expectations.
  • She worried about "What if I don't get a rank?"

But she managed to stay composed and trusted her preparation.

Do long study hours guarantee a rank?

Her answer is a clear No.

  • In CA Inter, she studied 14 hours daily.
  • In CA Final, she studied around 10 hours daily.

Her mantra: "If you are studying, give 100%. If not, take proper rest. Don't do anything half-hearted."

She emphasizes:

  • Quality > Quantity
  • Commitment > Duration

Do you recommend online coaching or self-study?

She preferred:

  • Regular online classes
  • Self-written notes
  • Studying directly from books

She did not rely on:

  • Marathon lectures
  • Endless revision videos

Her advice: Take regular classes seriously, then shut the laptop and revise from books and your own notes.

Who inspired you the most?

From family:

  • Her parents were her biggest support system.

As a role model, she looks up to A. P. J. Abdul Kalam for his humbleness and grounded personality.

She also appreciates humble teachers like CA Praveen Jindal for similar qualities.

What are your hobbies outside CA?

Despite her academic excellence, she maintains balance through:

  • Reading novels and fantasy books
  • Visiting libraries
  • Watching movies
  • Shopping during breaks

She believes balance is essential for long-term success.

Job or Practice - What's Her Career Choice?

She has expressed her preference for a job over practice and is exploring opportunities post-qualification.

Diksha Goyal's Success Mantra for CA Aspirants!

Here's her final advice for students aiming for a rank:

  • Don't overburden yourself with pressure.
  • Don't believe that only long hours guarantee success.
  • Keep dedicated breaks.
  • Put 100% into your study hours.
  • Have faith along with hard work.
  • Stay consistent.

She quoted, "Do it with 100% of your heart. Otherwise, don't do it."
