Indian CAs in High Demand Across the Globe: ICAI President

Last updated: 09 April 2025

The President and Vice President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), along with his central council members from North India, visited the city during a members' meeting and seminar on income tax organised here on Thursday.

President Charanjot Singh Nanda told the gathering, "CA is the cheapest and the most accessible professional course available as of today. However, the ICAI is not only maintaining the world-class standards of profession but also evolving fast to keep pace with the changing world. Indian CAs are in high demand globally and many countries are looking to outsource their work to Indian CAs. The ICAI has a strong force of more than 4.5 lakh members and more than 10 lakh students."

Answering to the question of role of CAs in economy, he said, "Today, the GST collections and direct taxes collection are increasing and it is all because of the hard work, dedication and good work of chartered accountants." He said the ICAI is taking up many reforms and now even the final exams and Diploma in Information Systems Audit (DISA) exams will be held thrice a year.

Vice-President Prasanna Kumar D said it is the duty of the institute to take care of members. He said a fund has been created to help the members in distress. He hoped that with the renewed efforts of his office and the branches, this year the ICAI would add at least Rs 100 crore in the corpus to help the members in need. He appealed to all members to contribute generously for this noble cause. He praised the hospitality extended by the Jalandhar Branch and the discipline and dedication being shown by the members of the Jalandhar branch under the leadership of the Chairman CA Puneet Oberoi.

Four Central Council Members Rajesh Sharma, Hans Raj Chugh, Pramod Jain and Sanjeev Singhal also accompanied the president and the vice-president. They all spoke about the abundant opportunities available in the market for CAs. They advised that nothing will come on its own and efforts will have to be put by ungrading the skills and hard work. They advised the students that they should take up the articleship very seriously without which the success in professional life will become difficult.

Earlier, a session on reassessment procedure was taken up by Sandeep Vijh and on critical issues in budget and New Income Tax Bill 2025 by Pramod Jain. While Vijh highlighted some very important high court judgement which gave better interpretation to the provisions, Jain highlighted certain pointers in the budget to be taken care of while discharging professional duties. The session was attended and appreciated by the participants.
