Taxpayers and deductors can utilise a TDS challan deposited for Financial Year (FY) 2025-26 while filing a TDS statement for Tax Year (TY) 2026-27, as cross-year challan utilisation is permitted within a range of ±1 Tax Year.
According to the clarification, deductors who have deposited a challan in one Tax Year may use it for the relevant TDS statement in an adjacent Tax Year, subject to the applicable system rules. This provides flexibility for cases where challan payments and TDS statement filing relate to different Tax Years.
