Tips for students to clear CA Exam(old syllabus) : Part2

Hi Guys and Gals,

Subject:Old Syllabus Group 1

I started off with Group 2 and now its the turn for the much awaited Group 1.This will go for atleast 4 parts.

First let me start with resources.

My advice is always apart from Study material teo books and in the two books one must be BED ROCK BOOK(Please refer my old posting-'part 1 cont')

Bedrock book means THE BOOK to always be thorough.Additional book is gotten to evade boredom,ennui,for reference,clarification,working out extra problems,etc.

Get the latest books, dont be stingy and try to be a smart-ass by borrowing old books or getting it from library.

There is a certain pleasure in reading from a new text, owing it,etc.This intellectual pleasure and satisfaction is lost.

First, never think Group 1 is easy!

Group 1 also requires systematic preparation.However one need not be afraid.

Accountancy/Accounting subject:

First have a good book for Final like Padhukas but also have one more book for reference.

Institute Study material must be thoroughly practiced here.

COACHING NECESSARY ATLEAST FOR SOME TOPICS

MAFA:

Khan and Jain+Horngren(Indian edition) with solutions.

Institute study materials.

COACHING WOULD DO WONDERS!!

COMPANY LAW:Institute study material and Bare act portion more than enough.No need to buy any other book but one can buy Taxmann book just for the sake of knowing how to present.PLEASE DONOT BUY ANANTHARAMAN BOOK(It is a waste of time at the final level)

COACHING NOT NECESSARY, IF ONE WANTS ONE CAN ATTEND A FEW CLASSES IN THE INSTITUTE.

AUDITING:

STUDY MATERIAL MORE THAN ENOUGH.

BE THOROUGH IN ALL ACCOUNTING AND AUDITING STDS.

ONE CAN BUY AUDITING MURALI OR SOME SIMPLE NOTES TO CONDENSE AND READ SOME CHAPTERS.BUT FRANKLY DONT WASTE TOO MUCH TIME IN IT.

Pointers: In this Group MAFA alone mght pose some difficulty to some.

                  Some tell me horror stories about Corporate law but it comes only because of inadequate preparation and fear, NOTHING ELSE.

Group 1 has to be dealt differently than GROUP 2.

I will elaborate how next posting.Meanwhile those who are in the thick of prep for the june exams, I WISH THEM ALL THE BEST.
