In India many states have digitalized their land records &hence now the same records are available online. Patta Chitta are important land records in the state of Tamil Nadu. Due to digitization, these land records, i.e., Patta Chitta documents, are available online through the official TN e-Services website.

What do you mean by Patta Chitta?
Patta
Patta is a legal document given by Tamil Nadu Government in the name of owner of property & it can be obtained fromTahsildar's office of the particular district which consists following details,
- Patta number
- Name of District, taluka & village
- Area of land & tax details
- Survey number and subdivision.
Chitta
Chitta is a land revenue document maintained by the Village Administrative Officer (VAO) and the Taluk office which consists details of ownership & land details.
Chiita classifies lands into two parts i.e. nanjai ( wet land) & Punjai (dry land)

As we all are aware there are numerous frauds can be done in the real estate transactions as some times it is possible that someone can sell you property which might be a government land or an agricultural land or person who is buying the property must know the real owners of that particular property as in remedy of this under new digital era all lands records & property ownership details are provided under such Patta Chitta Extract
How to get Patta Chitta Extract online
As now Patta Chitta has been merged in one document.
One can follow below steps :
Step 1: Go to Tamil Nadu Patta Chitta website which is available in English & Tamil Language
Step 2: Select the 'View Patta/Chitta(Rural/Natham)'
Step 3: Select the District, Taluk & Village from the drop-down menu. Select the 'Urban' or 'Rural' option in the 'Area Type'. Enter Survey Number &Sub Division Number as directed on screen. Click on the 'Submit' button.
Step 4:Once it will be submitted the details will be shown for selected Area & Survey in which you can see the classification of the land under two category i.e. Dry land & Wet Land (You can see the same in below Pic)

How to get Adangal register (A register)
To get the details of particular land one can follow below steps
Step: 1 Go to website of Patta Chitta & Select "View A Register Extract"
Step: 2 Select the District, Taluk & Village from the drop-down menu. Select the 'Urban' or 'Rural' option in the 'Area Type'. Enter Survey Number & Sub Division Number as directed on screen. Click on the 'Submit' button.
Step: 3 On Submission you will get the Adangal register in which you will see the essential details of selected Survey number like below
What is the difference between Patta & TSLR (Town Survey Land Register)
TSLR stands for Town Survey Land Register & it is document like Patta & issued from the Tehsildar Office for Gram Natham Land
Basically, A Patta is a legal document that contains all the land and its owner's details. Both of these documents are issued by the government only and can be used as legal documents to claim land ownership However, TSLR is issued for land that is under the Panchayat government whereas the Patta is issued for land that is under the municipal government.
How to Get TSLR (Town Survey Land Register)
In order to get TSLR one can follow below steps,
Step: 1 Go to website & select TSLR Extract
Step: 2 Fill the required details as asked
Step: 3 On submission you will get the TSLR register as below.
