CBDT Grants Extra Time for Taxpayers Requiring Audit

What is the Extended Date?

The date has been extended from 31st October 2024 to November 15, 2024.

Targeted Taxpayers

This extension applies to taxpayers specified in clause (a) of Explanation 2 to sub-section (1) of section 139, primarily those who are required to undergo tax audits.

The CBDT used its powers u/s 119 to provide relief for taxpayers facing challenges during the filing period, aiding compliance with income tax regulations.

Past 2 years Deadline Extensions for Audited Cases

Financial Year 2022-23:

In the AY 23-24, there was no extension for corporate/individual ITR or tax audit deadlines.

 

Financial Year 2021-22:

There was only 7-day extension in the AY 22-23 due to e-filing portal issues - October 7, 2022 for Tax Audit and November 7, 2022 for ITR requiring audit.

FAQ :

The deadline for filing Income Tax Returns (ITR) for taxpayers requiring an audit has been extended to November 15, 2024.

This extension applies to taxpayers who are required to undergo tax audits, as specified in clause (a) of Explanation 2 to sub-section (1) of section 139.
