BIS has been directed to map industrial zones, create world-class lab testing infrastructure, undertake GAP analysis, modernise existing labs, and set up new testing labs across the country so entrepreneurs don't have to travel far.
BIS is instructed to create a Customer Charter to ensure the highest transparency in its certification process and inspections.
The goal is to ensure that products manufactured in India are of international standards, whether for the local or international market, and that standards are not diluted.
