ICAI Issues Final Reminder to Members for Completion of Pending CPE Hours for Calendar Year 2024 by 30th June 2025

Last updated: 30 May 2025

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has issued a final reminder urging its members to complete the pending Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours for the calendar year 2024 by June 30, 2025, in line with Level I of the Consequential Provisions for non-compliance.

The announcement follows the earlier extension of the deadline from December 31, 2024 to February 28, 2025, and comes as part of ICAI's efforts to maintain professional standards and ensure accountability among its members. The revised schedule for Level I now extends from March 1 to June 30, 2025, exclusively for the year 2024.

ICAI Issues Final Reminder to Members for Completion of Pending CPE Hours for Calendar Year 2024 by 30th June 2025

What Members Need to Know

According to the ICAI's CPE Statement 2023, members who fail to complete their mandatory CPE hours for 2024 by June 30, 2025, will automatically move to Level II of non-compliance. The implications are significant:

  1. Double Compliance Burden: Non-compliant members must complete twice the shortfall of CPE hours for 2024, in addition to the regular CPE requirements for 2025.
  2. Visibility of Non-Compliance: Starting July 1, 2025, non-compliance status will be visible on the ICAI CPE Portal under the member's login.
  3. Further Escalations: Continued non-compliance through subsequent levels (Level III and Level IV) may result in:
  • Mandatory disclosure of non-compliance in ICAI's Multipurpose Empanelment Form (MEF).
  • Issuance of only a Provisional Peer Review Certificate to individuals or firms.
  • Referral to the Disciplinary Directorate if the shortfall remains unresolved by December 31, 2026.

Final Opportunity for Compliance

This notice serves as a critical "last call" for those who have not yet met their CPE obligations for 2024. ICAI emphasizes that no further extension will be granted beyond June 30, 2025 for Level I compliance.

Members are encouraged to verify their CPE compliance status via the ICAI portal and act immediately if found deficient. The institute also urges members who have already complied to share this reminder with their professional peers.
