FAQ :
The Government of India has facilitated faster imports of key medical devices to meet the demand during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The relaxed conditions cover a range of devices including nebulisers, oxygen concentrators, CPAP and BIPAP devices, oxygen plants, oxygen cylinders, ventilators, and high flow nasal cannula devices, among others.
These relaxed import conditions are valid for three months from April 28, 2021.
Importers must make all required declarations under the Legal Metrology rules immediately after import/custom clearance and before sale, by stamping, applying a sticker, or online printing.
The Department of Consumer Affairs administers the Legal Metrology Act 2009.
Importers must inform the Director (Legal Metrology) and the Controller (Legal Metrology) in the relevant state about all such imports, including the quantity imported, immediately after import.
