The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has uncovered evidence suggesting that Vivo Mobile India Private Limited has evaded customs duty totalling approximately £2,217 crore. Investigations revealed that the company allegedly made wilful mis-declarations on imported items used in mobile phone manufacturing, allowing them to wrongly claim duty exemptions. Consequently, the DRI has issued a Show Cause Notice to Vivo India demanding the full amount of evaded duty.
