Smuggled cigarettes are significantly cheaper, approximately 5 times less than duty-paid cigarettes. For instance, duty-paid cigarettes might cost £3.30 per ten, while smuggled ones could be as low as £0.60 or £0.80 per ten.
Smuggled cigarettes may pose greater health risks as they often lack health warnings and could be manufactured using substandard or toxic ingredients.
