Authorities in Ludhiana have apprehended three individuals for attempting to fraudulently register for GST. The accused submitted online applications using identical stamp paper serial numbers for rent documents across different locations. Further investigation revealed that electricity bills submitted also shared the same consumer number, belonging to an individual living abroad.
Sumandeep Kaur, assistant commissioner, Ludhiana Zone 4, who filed the complaint, stated that the GST department had received three online registration applications for GST registration, where stamp paper with same serial number was used for rent documents of three different locations.
