I am going to start a business of Vegetable retail in Chandigarh and surroundings. What types of taxes I need to pay as I have read somewhere that this business is free from any kind of taxes.

Hi,
Vegetables are perishables nature only VAT is exempted.But you have to pay Income tax if your profit is more than the taxable limit. You must pay the Trade licence fee to your local body.
You have to pay licence fee to your municipality, and then yearly income tax according to your profits.
