its abt ur confidence & comfort. If u think instt books are sufficient, then its absolutely fine. But the scanner is very important bcoz practicing past papers is a must.

No its not Bust you must read the material its not sufficient for Exams fot for Knowledge its BEST

Would you mind clarifying your post. I am not clear with it.

 you must opt an additional book for theory nd for basic pratcical ques. after strong basic youy must go through study material nd compalier. Study material and compalier is must.

wel then which book is the best as reference for cost accounting
 

Well.... never forget that ICAI's material should be read thru' 100%.

In addition to that you can use one reference book for each subject.

If your planning to join some private classes from reputed academy(s), the notes provided by them will do instead of reference books. 

Suggested answers and Revision Test Papers are needed only for the final phase of your preparation.

Look, ICAI material is BEST in all cases.

I guarantee u, u will get rank if u read study material of icai.

But it require more dedication, determination, hardwork

Howvr, for parcticals ones U can refer external authors..but yes..as Dave said...never forget ICAI's material shud be throughly read along with..
