Dear Friends,

Again the season of CA results has come…some students succeed and some are instructed to work hard again for next attempt. Through this write up I would like to make you understand the importance of a relevant and one of my favourite saying “Failure improves the taste the victory”.

No doubt all the students who have succeed in this  attempt deserves a thumb up so I’d like to congratulate them for registering a success in CA Examinations by putting such enormous effort.

All I want to convey is that there is no need to give up. Remember packing it all in at this stage is surely the easy way out and it'll stop you feeling stressed, but kya tumna kabhi socha hai--how you'll feel on the other side of the exams. To avoid this situation and future regret I would suggest you to give another shot with full confidence, focused preparation and correct guidance. Even if you don't get the marks you want, but kindly appreciate taking exams keeps your options open.

Remember Success or Failure is a different thing altogether. Even if you did not do well in exam and got failed, there is really no need to panic now. Obviously it feels terrible but let it be. Failing exams does not make you a failure in life and most importantly it is not the end of world.

You are requested to please take note of some of simple points mentioned below to cope up with exam failure:

1.       Do not get depressed quickly

As per my observation don’t get depressed to get the negative result as this may lead to some unwanted action from your side. Kindly observe sometimes the margin is very small like you may miss the success by 5-7 marks in aggregate. This gap is not difficult to fill in the next attempt as our ultimate aim is to clear the group.

2.       Figure out the reason for negative result

Try and figure out the reason for negative result. There may some lack in the revision strategy or preparation. Just find out the exact problem and promise yourself to remove the same.

3.       Maintain your self-cinfidence

Believe me no problem can be bigger than lack of self confidence. So just maintain the same. Remember there are lots of students facing the exact situation like negative result so there is no need to exaggerate the things. Just relax and think what went wrong. Just one failure and start getting frustrated is not what CA is all about!!!

4.      Maintain positive realistic approach

I fully understand that under pressure, everyone has moments when they feel unable to cope, but sticking to a realistic positive approach will keep your confidence afloat. In this situation self assessment is the best thing to do and believe me only you can help yourself by searching out the best possible solution to your problem.

5.       Realistic Revision Plan

As per my experience one of the main reasons of exam failure is a complete failure of revision strategy. So I urge you to prepare and follow or stick to a realistic revision plan as this will again keep your confidence afloat. If you're charting your progress in this way, you're less likely to get intimidated by the workload and end up throwing your hands in the air.

Prepare a revision plan and keep updating the same keeping in view the level of your exam preparation.

6.      Take the help of your teacher or friend

After the negative result discuss the things with your teachers or friends and figure out the reasons of failure. This positive discussion will surely help you out to get over the negativity around you. You are requested to consider this point important as this point help you to get out of such moments of frustration and prevent you to take a disastrous decision.

7.       Search all possible solutions to succeed

Try and search all possible solutions and help available to succeed in Examinations. Analyse your study methods with the help of your tutor or friend and be ready to change your study style, if required. However drastic changes to study pattern are not advised.

8.      Some of my personal suggestions to perform well

Some of my personal observations as far as good preparation is concerned are as follows:

i.) Focus on conceptual study and clarity.

ii.) Base your study on Scanner along with suggested answers issued by ICAI

iii.) Discuss the topics with your friends for more clarity.

iv.) Keep working on your writing and presentation skills

v.)Do not get confuse between self study or coaching. Decide quickly.

Some of my previous suggestions regarding exam failure are as follows:

9.      Do not blame yourself for the failure

In case of exam failure there is no need to blame yourself or your institute or anyone else. It is perfectly all right. Kindly appreciate you are not the only student who got negative result. It happens in professional exams. So nothing to worry about and just move ahead and move with the flow and believe me things will be all right soon.

1o.     Suicide is not the solution

Suicide is not the solution of anybody’s problems. All the problems in this world are of temporary nature with permanent solution. On the contrary I would advise you to love your problems as you can learn a lot from your problems and in fact they are in your life to teach you something really indispensable. I personally feel that suicide is a selfish act, the victims of which are your family, parents and friends who cares for you. The pain of losing someone close can be devastating and reason or circumstances under which you lose that someone doesn’t make any difference. Before committing suicide one must think that there is hope and there is answer to every problem and failure of life. A foolish step can adversely change the life of those around you. Please think about it. I would urge you to be a bit strong in life and stay away from any kind of suicidal tendencies and thoughts.

Hope I’m able to bring something constructive through this brief write up. In the end I would like to submit that have faith in your abilities and blessings of your parents. You are humbly requested to please share your kind response on the above mentioned suggestions/points.

How to deal with Frustration out of Exam Failure !!

DEALING FRUSTRATION/FAILURE

(A) TWO SIDES OF A COIN – SUCCESS AND

FAILURE

Well finally we have our CA Final and CPT results out on 21st January. Many of our CCI members changed their profile name on that day for e.g. Manmohan to CA Manmohan but there are always two sides of a coin. If 15 % of our seniors succeeded then it was not a very good day for rest 85 % of them. I remember some of the members posting topics like "I Lost" and "What to do next?”

Well these are quite obvious reactions from their side and I can understand it as I myself has gone through that phase. We often relate two terms with such a situation - Failure and Frustration.

The reason of failure differs from person to person. I can't guide you how to study and where did u lack as u r the best judge of yourself. But ya what I can share from my experience is how to prepare yourself again for the fight and cope up with result frustration.

See failure and frustration are two things related to each other. Failure leads to Frustration. Many nice articles are posted by my friends for e.g. Never Quit by Resham on how to deal with failure. I will give you some suggestions on how to deal with the result frustration as you have very less time to prepare again for your next attempt and thus add to the points posted by some eminent CCI members....

(B) DISCUSS UR RESULT WITH YOURSELF ONLY

People say that in CA we get 6 months to prepare for next attempt but according to me you get 3 effective months only. 2.5 Months result ka wait karte hai aur 15 din result discuss karne mein ki hamare ilawa aur kaun fail hua hai...

Haan 2 Mahine toh hum nahi bacha sakte but these 10-15 days are very important. It is obvious that you will not feel like studying after a negative result but what is required is to analyze ur mistake and not to discuss the result or criticize ICAI.

Yaar ek baar ko maan bhi lun ki result % kam tha toh isse kya faydaa. I mean tum paas toh nahi ho jaoge. See these r just an excuse to convince yourself. Rahi baat discussion ki toh tumhare friend ko nahi pta ki tumne exam mein kya galti ki hai.

Some common discussion after results are:-

“Ek dum bekaar result tha”

"ICAI toh hume paas hi nahi karna chahti”

“Abe maine costing mein 80 ka sahi kara tha par 35 aaye”

Yaar such discussion is of no use. If you have some pro with the examiner then you can apply for revaluation but till then you s'd make ur mind for next attempt and start preparing for it. So discuss ur result with yourself (i.e. to analyse urmistakes) and not with others.

(C) HOW TO DEAL WITH FRUSTRATION??

(1) Every Success story is also a story of a great failure. The only difference is that they never gave up. So don't get discouraged if it takes a little longer than you expected.

(2) Play Music that inspires you. Music is a great stress buster. Refer my Article Role of Music in CA

(3) Sit quietly in a natural setting and feel the beauty of nature. It will have you to relax your mind. It also teaches you lots of things. Refer my article Nature our true Teacher

(4)Talk to your best friend but not about the result but something else. It helps to build up your energy levels. We do absorb energy from others and friends plays a gr8 role in CA. Refer my article Role of friends in CA

(5) Ask yourself, "What is working in this situation?”. Your thoughts play a major role in ur success. What u gets has lot to do with ur thinking. For details refer my article Things you can learn from The Secret

(6) Stay Positive - Yes you can learn alot from your failure. It will tell you what not to do in your next attempt.  Taking a break and remembering to keep your sense of humor can also help. This time of frustration will pass. A positive mind is far more open to solutions and answers than a negative one that thinks it’s just “hopeless” and thinks “what’s the use?” A closed mind will not be able to see the possible solutions when they do come along. Stay positive.

Conclusion-

As with any problem, the solution is to figure out what your options are, decide on a plan, focus, and then take action. By using the above 6 steps, you should find that you’re running into fewer problems and feeling less frustration. Instead, you may find that you’re running into opportunities and you know exactly how to take advantage of them.

CA SURENDRA KUMAR RAKHECHA

"Reasons of Poor Marks Scored in CA Exams"

-A Research on Study Patterns adopted by one student - with added flavor-

**Presented By – CA Surendra Kumar Rakhecha**

Specially written for caclubindia users.

Unbelievable marks are scored by most of the CA students. They think that we attempted the full paper; but marks are not up to mark – even 40s were not allotted !

Since nobody is there with whom they can discuss the reasons and correct
the mistakes hence the mistakes are not found. These remain hidden.

The result is - the same result as the previous one – again and again.

It is really a very unfortunate state for the students and their parents. Parents
also can’t understand what are the faults with their children. But, if it analyzed with pen and paper; the mistakes can be revealed easily.

On yesterday evening; one 118 kg. PCC 3 times failed student came to me for help. Despite having best coaching in Surat, he was unable to draw the “line of best fit” (read Cost Accounting, if required) to get the success. On

discussion; he disclosed that he is unable to conclude where is the mistake. I asked him certain questions and the following facts were revealed. Since I noted each and every discussion in front of him; hence he was satisfied.

The question-answer session was as under :

            Question                                              Answer

1. What is your major drawback      :   Lack of Concentration, Sir !

2. Why                                            : ??
(to know this; I have come here)
3. (From reaction of Q 2)-

I asked - because you think that
you have already read all the
materials                                            : Yes

4. (Noting the misconception)-

Do you think that you are good in DT: No

5. (Judging his genuineness)-

a. Do you have any bike                     : Yes

b. When you learned riding,
were you confident in a week?          : Yes, but……no....in a month, I think...

c. Whether learning was interesting     : Yes, of course !

d. When you learned it well; then I
think the Riding became boring           : No… it became more interesting.

e. Why                                               : ?? .. You know.. it is interesting !
                                                            (Why you ask such question?)
f. Do you agree that learning is
interesting whatever is the area           : Ya

g. Do you learn while you read            : ?? Can’t say….but may be…

h. You read subjects because these     : Ya
are in the syllabus                                 (What a foolish question?)

i. It means whatever you read;            : Something we  learn….
there is no learning                               (here “we” represents all CA students?)

j. Do you think – that “something”
is enough to pass                                 : ??
                                                             (Neither yes nor no)

k. (Looking to his weight, I presumed)

In how many activities you participated
in your school/college days                   : ??

(Not Applicable to me, see my weight !)

l. Say subjectwise marks you scored     : Not sure, but sure that these are poor.

                                                             (Lack of concentration proved-See Q 1 !)

m. Give me your last Roll No.                : 16yz
(so that I can check on net)

n. I checked; but Name was different : …………..(loss of memory for time being)
(although Roll No. was correct
which he told-he verified also)

o. I asked – It is not yours, then?          : Sir, try 16zy3

p. I tried                                                : and the attempt was successful !

q. These are the marks
scored by you                                       : Ya, (consistently 30 to 35)

(in all the subjects, all the time!)

r. Do you come from English Medium?    : Ya
                                                                (very fluent in English!)

s. Where do you live                              : ( Replied )

t. How many members are there            : Only 3
                                                                (idiot question !)

u. Do you have friends who are
pursuing CA                                           : No

v. Do you use internet                           : Ya

w. Which sites                                        : ….just for chatting !

x. Do you know caclubindia                   : No
(My club is different – it’s different !)

Although full alphabets were not covered in the questionnaire, but I concluded that the letters “yz” have been properly covered when I asked his Roll No. (See point number o above).

Not a single point was there where I could give him some marks ( although I am liberal, you can presume - from my above statement) Can readers tell me now where was he lacking ?

Try yourself in all the above questions and note down your study patterns to discuss it in length with your friend circle…………...

If we take the above questions as asked in an Examination, we will conclude that mostly he has given correct answers.

Fully Correct : 1, 3, 5 (a, b, c, d, f, h, l, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w)
(Yes is treated as a correct answer)

Wrong : 4, 5 ( i, m)
(No is treated as a wrong answer)

Not Knowing : 2, 5 (e, g, j, k, n, x)
(?? .is considered as left unattempted)

(Readers are free to make any type of analysis…..but, I am sure that the result would be one and same).

On the above analysis; I ask one question; whether he should be declared successful merely because he has given most of the answers correct one and rest can be ignored…….

Sixer on Last Ball !

After a live discussion as above; although he we was confident because he realized his mistakes.

He supposed to ask me so many questions when he came, but unfortunately he was caught and forced to give answers which he always disliked – already harassed by the institute to ask such silly questions !.

At last, he put his master stroke on ME -

Sir, I want to pass CA at any cost; tell me - what should I do ?

(Readers - Tell me, what should I do?)

Please help me; I am lacking concentration….. My position is like …..(See Q 1).

Moral :

If there is a lack of learning, non participation and no discussion; then subjects become non-interesting which leads to lack of concentration and if there is “a lack of concentration”; your “Lacs of Efforts” are useless.

CA SUDHIR HALAKHANDI

HOW TO COPE PCC FAILURE- CA SUDHIR HALAKHANDI

See here those who got cleared, get their path but for others the days ahead are crucial. They have to face lot of undesired situations, sentimental breakdowns etc. in the forthcoming days.

See here, the professional examination the situation is “war like situation” and normally the students were judged from the percentage of results and sometimes it gives very absurd indications when the calculation is based on normal computation of percentage. See here if 20 students out of the 100 get cleared then the results are 20% and see the simple calculation every 1 out of 5 get clearance but the situation is not the same if we see the factual situations. Here instead of going in theory we are practical and now see out of these 20 the 5 were the students who had to get the “Pass” in any condition they every 100 (as per law of average) have such Top 5 and for practical calculation those top 5 should not be considered in calculation because they are the brilliant students and the real competition is between rest of 95 out of which only 15 get the clearance and see this practical side of the calculation the results are now looking too tough for the rest of the students and 80 unsuccessful students are from 95 is the really make the competition more stiff. Today I am addressing these 80 Students.

Why I am speaking to those students? The answer is very simple, see you’re this months “top Ranker at CA club” and “tax writer and columnist of all the Top tax journals of the country” ((i.e. my self- ca sudhir Halakhandi), was also from this category and the period was 25 years back. I got cleared in 3rd attempt in CA- Intermediate and in second attempt in CA Final. The situation was the same and believe me I am closely watching the “Articles assistants” under me and further My son is also doing the CA course hence please don’t take this article as “Pravchan” but it is real strategic analysis for you because I have faced the same situation.

I have mentioned that the situation is “war liked” hence we have to make war like strategy also. Hence take the tips, follow the same and certainly you will be benefited.

1. One week after the results will be crucial and it can break you. So be careful. Your Mummy , papa, brother and/or sister have lot of expectations from you, they helped you a lot, you got free from household chorus during your preparations and there will be some brickbats” Now , so face them with right spirit . They are your real well-wishers and further, if they are not from the professional community then situation for you is little stiff because they don’t understand that this is the result of number game.
2. Everybody have friends , since you are an article assistant in a company also , you have some CA- students friends also and one or two from them got positive results and they will call you for party also. Keep cool!!!!!!!! This is a natural situation, attend it but you may face some sympathetic eyes also!!!! Face it; it is all part of the life!!! What can be done!!!!! If you left it and go home, take Books and start study but it will not solve your problem. First get normal!!!! Give yourself a belief that it is not your failure but this time it is turn of your friend and you have the next chance.
3. Attend your office from next day itself!!!! Get your work with same or more seriousness!! Otherwise where you can go!!!! At home then you will develop a habit of “sleeping in day” or face some unusual sympathetic situation or may be an ugly situation. See here our mission is “to recover” and at present it is the work that can save you from worst situation.
4. In all these seven days, please don’t touch the Books, already you have read a lot and these 7 days will not make any difference. Here we are preparing ourselves for next examination.
5. For God sack please don’t make hurried enquires about Coaching centers. Here see my views are against all type of coaching but please see these are my personal views to which my own son is not agree. Coaching may help too some extent but see you have already prepared yourself for one chance and now what is left to be coached to you !!!! You are well prepared, you have the mind (otherwise you might have been rejected in CPT!!!!!) and remember that you are not a failure but you are a casualty of Number or average game. But the total picture is not the same see here If you are going for the examination (You have already) then you are well prepared then why not got cleared?? The reason is very simple you have not performed well at the time of delivery!! In our system you are judged by what you have written and not by what you know? You still have lot of time and you can decide on this subject later.
6. Now these seven days are over. Everybody forget the past!!! Now for you the situation is normal. Even in worst case of accident, the people get the normal life after sometime!!! It is only an examination!! But remember you have to clear it now otherwise what is the option. CA is a noble profession and please don’t think “If not CA then MBA”. You choose it and who told you other courses are easy! So if you choose CA then it is your duty to complete it.
7. Now Get set ready!!! Your real time has come and what is written below , follow it and certainly you will get the desired:-
1. Get up at 6.00 AM have some exercise and be at your study table at 6.30 (Not at seven because half an hour is also important.). You have 3 hours for study and remember you have already done and now it is time for revision and not very difficult.
2. At 10 AM you are at office and do your work and free at 5 PM. Straightforward go home. No sports????? No certainly not!!! Only this is the schedule for 3 Months!! and 3 months Good bye is not very important and please remember You are on a mission. In my days we played matches on Sundays (after my failure in first attempt) and whole the Sunday was consumed!! But in your cases matches are 20-20 and also remember you are playing for enjoyment “kyo ki ab app Indian team mai to aa nahi sakte aur jo India team mai hai unke liye appne khatra banane kee koshish kee to appka mission CA khatre mai pad jaega”. One more thing – Please forget that you need a leave at this juncture from office because going office and doing work is a big boost to “Time management” for studies. See if you are 24 hours at home then how much you can study!!! 24 Hours!!! Forget it!!! You need only 8 Hours!!!
3. You are at Home 5.30 and at your study table at 6.00 PM and study time is 6 to 11 – 5 hours and only 15 Minutes break for Dinner . 15 Minutes are sufficient?? Yes please believe me? What about “early to bed and early……. Remember you are at war and please forget these “theories” for three months. Keep you Mobile switch off!! Turn off the FM!!!! Keep cool!! It is only 3 Months and 3 Months in a life are not too Much but for you these 3 Months are Life.
4. You have 8 hours study a day from day one now without break!!! And it is enough. If a student need more than 8 hours then believe me he has some problem of understanding!!!! And you are not out of them. And please start writing the answers habit and believe me this is your big backdrop and also the cause of unwanted failure. Any way So sleep well!!!
5. Take a break on Sundays!!! Meet friends, go movies at hall!!!! Play 20-20. See here one day break in 7 days will not make any difference. Go to sleep early because hectic 6 days are waiting for you!!!!! Ya one more thing please discuss some crucial points of study with your friends on Sunday also!!!
6. Keep the tempo for next three months!!! And this time examination will be in June hence you have one more Golden Month!!! So go “All out” in last month.
7. Here see the difference is only of 10 or hardly 20 Marks!!! Which you have to cross and believe me you will through a party at next result but don’t forget your friend in that party who is standing at the corner and please give him a “Big Hug” and also my tips. See it is not the question of success or failure!!! It is only number game and game of determination, self confidence and Time management!!!!
8. I have tested these in my own life and got out of the dilemma of attempts and one of my “article assistant” at one time who got Rank told me “Sir ab mai bhee appke jaisa banane kee koshish karunga” and but I didn’t tell him to shock him “ Mai tumahare jaisa Nahi tha!!!” Believe me we the “Average students” have also right to become CA” and most of the successful professional are from our category. So please do it and we are waiting for your entry in this noble profession.

Awesome read, thanks for sharing Sir..

Thanku balu sir for sharing.smile.

Dil se :

.

I like my own creation :

.

( Some people love their hair, muscles etc...etc... I love my work).

.

"The Reasons of Poor Marks Scored in CA Exams" because it is based on REAL CASE STUDY.

.

( It was not written to insult someone because I find the same situations in many students. But still it is true that this one is the real example).

.

I find many students who don't remember even their roll numbers at the time of results are declared !

.

If students study without gaining any knowledge ( as they feel in ISCA ); then surely it is no use of studying.

.

Some of the more reasons of poor marks in CA exams are : Students don't update their study materials.

.

As I have suggested many times; by the time exams are due; many of the study materials become outdated and/or need some modifications.

.

After failing for 1 or 2 times; students read the same study materials and notes and they find the same results !

.

Better change the strategy with individual guidance of some experts and then plan for studies.

.

I stress on Individual Guidance because each and every students has his own strengths and weaknesses.

.

Let's come forward and solve their problems joining our hands.
