Statutory Tax Compliance Tracker - August 2026

August 2026 Compliance Calendar: Key Income Tax and GST Due Dates

August 2026 is a crucial compliance month for taxpayers, businesses, deductors, collectors, trusts, and GST-registered entities. Several important deadlines fall during the month, including TDS/TCS payments and certificates, GST return filings, QRMP compliances, and the due date for filing Income Tax Returns for non-audit taxpayers for AY 2026-27.

Under the Income-tax Act, 1961 and the new Income-tax Act, 2025 framework, taxpayers must ensure timely deposit of TDS/TCS, issuance of tax certificates, submission of various declarations and deduction-related forms, and filing of income tax returns by the prescribed due dates. August 31, 2026, is particularly significant as it marks the due date for ITR filing for most non-audit assessees and the submission of several deduction and exemption-related forms.

Statutory Tax Compliance Tracker - August 2026

On the GST front, registered taxpayers must comply with GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-6, GSTR-7, GSTR-8, and QRMP-related filing obligations. Businesses operating under the QRMP scheme must also ensure timely payment through Form PMT-06 and, where applicable, furnish Invoice Furnishing Facility (IFF) details. Non-resident taxpayers, Input Service Distributors (ISDs), e-commerce operators, and UIN holders claiming refunds also have specific filing requirements during the month.

Given the volume of statutory filings and payments due in August 2026, taxpayers should review their compliance obligations in advance to avoid interest, penalties, late fees, and potential disruptions in claiming deductions, credits, or refunds. Careful planning and timely action will help ensure smooth compliance with both direct and indirect tax laws.
