Pocketful Launches Pocketful GPT: India’s First AI Trading Assistant That Makes Investing Smarter and Easier

The use of artificial intelligence tools in the Indian stock market is gradually expanding beyond institutional investors, with retail-focused platforms also experimenting with AI-led information support systems. The growth in retail participation over the past few years has led to a sharp increase in market data, research inputs, and real-time information, making decision-making more complex for individual investors.

In this context, Pocketful, an Indian online trading platform, has introduced an AI-based trading tool called Pocketful GPT. According to the company, the tool is intended to help users interpret market-related information by allowing them to ask questions in natural language and receive simplified, context-based explanations.

Pocketful Launches Pocketful GPT: India’s First AI Trading Assistant That Makes Investing Smarter and Easier

Industry observers note that while artificial intelligence has long been used by institutional investors for analytics and automation, retail investors are increasingly seeking tools that focus on clarity rather than execution. Platforms are therefore positioning AI features as informational aids rather than trading systems.

Pocketful explained that its GPT system doesn't make trades or give investment advice on its own. Instead, it organizes and shows market data already available on the platform. If a user decides to make a trade, the system can carry it out only when the user asks it to. This means all final investment choices stay fully under the user's control. The approach also matches current efforts in the finance industry to keep AI tools clear and compliant with regulations.

The chat-based interface allows users to ask questions related to stocks, broader market trends, and portfolio-related concepts. The stated objective is to explain complex financial data in simpler terms so that it is accessible to a wider range of investors, including first-time market participants.

The tool also provides explanatory information on features such as margin trading facilities (MTF), which allow investors to increase purchasing power but also involve higher risk and cost. According to the company, the AI tool explains concepts such as leverage, interest costs, and risk exposure without actively encouraging the use of margin-based products.

Pocketful noted that the tool has been developed with a focus on Indian market structures, where trading behavior, regulations, and investor queries differ from global markets. The rollout of Pocketful GPT is being carried out in phases, with further refinements planned based on user feedback.

Pocketful was founded in 2022 by Sarvam Goel and Rishabh Goel, and operates under Pace Stock Broking Services Pvt. Ltd.. The platform provides access to equities, derivatives, and commodities trading in the Indian market.
