New Income Tax Portal

INTRODUCTION

New Income Tax Portal was launched on 7th June, 2021 by CBDT (Central Board of Direct Tax). New Income Tax Portal i.e. ‘www.incometax.gov.in’ is been replaced by the old e-filing portal i.e. ‘www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in’. The individual who wants to file their returns has to file returns on this new portal now onwards. The portal is being redesigned for the easy filing and to eliminate the glitches or any other difficulties.

FEATURES OF NEW INCOME TAX E-FILING PORTAL

1. ITR PROCESSING

It is the fast processing of income tax returns which helps the taxpayers for quick responses of tax filing. When the person file income tax return this portal immediately starts process of the returns and it also gives quick refund to the taxpayers.

2. FREE ITR PREPARATION SOFTWARE

Presently, there are ITR-1 and ITR-4 which is available online and offline, and ITR-2 which is available online. Rest of the ITR which is ITR-3, ITR-5, ITR-6, and ITR-7 will be accessible soon.

3. CALL CENTRE SERVICE

The new portal has also joined the call centre services to resolve the queries of taxpayers. It also provides the tutorial, videos and chatbot for any issues arises to taxpayers.

4. SINGLE DASHBOARD INTERACTION

A taxpayer who wants to perceive all the interactions, uploads and unresolved actions in a single dashboard along with the follow up action.

5. MULTIPLE PAYMENT OPTIONS

The new portal gives various options to taxpayers, such as RTGS/NEFT, credit card, UPI, and net banking via any account of taxpayer in any bank. It will provide easy payment for taxpayers. The department of taxpayers will be permitted the facility after 18th June, 2021 for avoiding any difficulties to the taxpayers.

6. MOBILE APPLICATIONS

The app for new income tax portal will be available for taxpayers for easy filing. It will be launched soon. The taxpayer will have access to everything at any point of time.

7. PRE-FILLED ITRs

The new portal will allow for pre-filling of some details of income related to salary, house property, business and profession etc. With that it also authorize to pre-filling of details of salary income, interest, dividend, and capital gains.

THINGS TO DO BY TAXPAYERS

• The taxpayers has to re-register their Digital Signature Certificate as the old Certificate is not migrated due to some security issues.
• They has to also update their ID and Mobile Number under their profile.
• If they did not link their Aadhaar card before then they have to do it now.
• Reset e-filing vault higher security options.
