Provisional Admission to Foundation Course

Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the board examinations of CBSE/ICSE/State Boards were postponed, due to which students were not able to do online ICAI Registration for the Foundation Course. In lieu of these students, ICAI had made an announcement on 5th April 2020, wherein, the authorities relaxed the eligibility criteria for registering in the Foundation Course.

"Candidate may provisionally register in the Foundation Course on or before 30th June 2020 if he has been either allotted the admit card and/or appeared in one or more papers in the months of February/March 2020 in the Senior Secondary (10+2) Examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognised by the Central Government or the State Government as equivalent thereto for the purpose of admission to graduation course and;

appear in November 2020 Foundation examination after passing the Senior Secondary (10+2) examination conducted by an examining body as mentioned above."

The announcement can be read at

Important Clarifications regarding Provisional Admission to Foundation Course

1. Students are required to complete their ICAI Online Registrationfor the Provisional Admission on or before 30th June 2020 to sit for the November 2020 examination.

2. Class 12 students who could not finish board examinations due to the COVID-19 pandemic can provisionally register for the Foundation Course, provided that they have either been allotted the admit card and/or have appeared in one or more board examination papers conducted by the examining body. This examining body could be recognised by the Central Government or any of the State Governments

3. ICAI Online Registration(Provisional) to the Foundation Course cannot be done by students who have passed Class 11. The student must have been allotted the admit card for Class 12 board examinations or must have appeared in one or more examination papers.

4. Candidates will not be eligible to sit for the November 2020 attempt of the Foundation Course in case they do not pass Class 12 examination.

5. Candidates who wish to register provisionally can do so by visiting the ICAI website at https://www.icai.org/indexbkp.html and register online at https://eservices.icai.org/ .

6. Candidates are not supposed to courier/post the form and documents once they have registered provisionally. They are required to upload all documents and pay the fees online.

7. In case of any problem regarding the provisional registration, candidates can send their query at foundation.registration@icai.in .

8. The relaxation in the eligibility criteria for the Foundation Course is a one-time measure only, as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Under normal circumstances, this concept shall not be followed.
