FAQ :
The e-Settlement Scheme, 2021, is a new scheme introduced by the CBDT to settle pending income-tax settlement applications that have been transferred to an interim board.
The scheme is applicable to taxpayers who were eligible to file an application as of January 31, 2021, but could not do so because the Income Tax Settlement Commission had ceased to exist. These applications were permitted to be submitted to an interim board by September 30, 2021.
All proceedings before the interim board will be conducted exclusively in electronic mode, including videoconferencing or video telephony. These proceedings will not be open to the public.
No, applicants or their representatives do not need to make any personal appearances before the Interim Board, Income-tax Authority, or any ministerial staff.
Once an application is found valid and deemed a 'pending application' under the scheme, it cannot be withdrawn.
