FAQ :

A new web-based system for registration of goods exports is being introduced, moving away from the current physical process.

It will facilitate the integration of Customs systems with other regulatory agencies, leading to faster clearances for export consignments and eliminating the need for exporters or brokers to travel to ports.

The system aims to integrate the Indian Customs Electronic Gateway (ICEGATE) with other regulatory agencies, such as drug controllers, to streamline processes for consignments requiring their intervention.

The Trade Facilitation Action Plan aims for an average release time of 24 hours for exports through seaports and 12 hours through airports by the end of 2023.

ICEGATE is the national Customs portal of CBIC that provides e-filing services for trade, cargo carriers, and other partners, including electronic filing of Shipping Bills and e-payment of Customs Duty.

While Customs clearance is being expedited, 80-85% of the average release time is currently taken after Customs has cleared the consignments, indicating a need for further compression in release times by regulatory agencies.
