The Union Government of India's accounts up to January 2022 for the financial year 2021-22 have been published. Total receipts reached Rs. 18.71 lakh crore, representing 85.9% of the revised estimates. This includes tax revenue, non-tax revenue, and non-debt capital receipts. Total expenditure stood at Rs. 28.09 lakh crore, which is 74.5% of the revised estimates, covering revenue and capital accounts, including significant spending on interest payments and subsidies.

The total receipts by January 2022 were Rs. 18,71,516 crore, which is 85.9% of the corresponding revised estimates for FY 2021-22.
Total receipts comprise Rs. 15,47,436 crore in Tax Revenue (Net to Centre), Rs. 2,91,485 crore in Non-Tax Revenue, and Rs. 32,595 crore in Non-Debt Capital Receipts.
The total expenditure incurred by the Government of India up to January 2022 was Rs. 28,09,384 crore, representing 74.5% of the revised estimates for FY 2021-22.
The total expenditure includes Rs. 23,67,698 crore on Revenue Account and Rs. 4,41,686 crore on Capital Account. Significant portions of the revenue expenditure were for Interest Payments (Rs. 6,14,626 crore) and Major Subsidies (Rs. 3,27,703 crore).
Rs. 5,45,392 crore was transferred to State Governments as their share of taxes by the Government of India up to January 2022.
