Maharashtra Allows PAN-Based Profession Tax Payment Amid MahaGST Portal Issues

PAN-Based Payment Facility Enabled

To ensure timely tax payment, the department has introduced an alternate facility allowing taxpayers to pay Profession Tax using their PAN. Any tax paid through PAN within the prescribed due date will be treated as a valid discharge of liability.

Registration and Return Filing Temporarily Disabled

Due to the technical issues, the following services have been temporarily disabled on the portal:

  • Registration under Profession Tax
  • Filing of Profession Tax returns

However, the tax payment facility will remain active to help taxpayers meet deadlines.

Deadline for Registration

Taxpayers who are unable to register due to system issues can pay their tax using PAN and complete registration on or before 30 April 2026 . Such payments will be treated as valid compliance.

Officials clarified that the relaxation applies only to compliance due in March 2026 and is not a permanent relaxation.
