The Ministry of Finance, Department of Financial Services, has issued a fresh notification dated May 27, 2026, making an amendment to its earlier notification released under the provisions of the Actuaries Act, 2006.
As per the latest Gazette notification S.O. 2670(E), the Central Government has substituted the earlier entry relating to the Presiding Officer appointed under the notification issued on March 30, 2026.
The revised notification appoints Ms. Varsha Chandra Sinha as the Presiding Officer. She currently serves as Joint Secretary & Law Officer in the Department of Legal Affairs and is based at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi.
The amendment has been made by the Central Government in exercise of powers conferred under sub-section (1) of Section 16 of the Actuaries Act, 2006.
According to the notification, the revised entry now reads:
- Ms. Varsha Chandra Sinha - Presiding Officer
- Joint Secretary & Law Officer
- Department of Legal Affairs
- 4th Floor, A-Wing, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi - 110001
The notification further clarifies that the amendment will come into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
The earlier principal notification was published vide S.O. 1654(E) dated March 30, 2026.
The notification has been issued under file number F. No. M-16013/02/2025-Ins. I and signed by Debasish Pru Sty, Additional Secretary, Department of Financial Services.
