ANNOUNCEMENT

Sub: Certificates issued by Peer Review Board to Practice Units without end date

The Practice Units may note that the Peer Review Certificates issued by the Peer Review Board to Practicing Units (PUs) in the past till April 16, 2015 mentioned the date of issuance of certificate, however, the date till which the certificate is valid is not mentioned on the Certificate. However, omission to mention date of expiry of Peer Review Certificate is creating confusion for the Practice Units as it is being assumed that the Practice Units are still having a valid certificate issued by the Board without an expiry date.

In view of the above, the Council at its 413th Meeting held in August 2022 has decided that in respect of Peer Review Certificates issued till April 16, 2015 without mention of end date, the end date shall be 31st December 2022 and till this date, the validity of such certificates shall be continued.

The Practice Units which have been issued a certificate in which the date till which the said certificate is valid has not been mentioned, may get the Peer Review of their firms initiated and completed on or before 31st December 2022. This will maintain the continuity of the existing Peer Review Certificate.

FAQ :

Past Peer Review Certificates issued by the ICAI's Peer Review Board to Practice Units (PUs) until April 16, 2015, only mentioned the issuance date and not the expiry date, causing confusion.

The ICAI Council has decided that Peer Review Certificates issued without an end date until April 16, 2015, will now have an end date of December 31, 2022.

The validity of Peer Review Certificates issued without an end date until April 16, 2015, is extended until December 31, 2022.

Practice Units with certificates that do not mention a validity end date should initiate and complete their Peer Review process on or before December 31, 2022.

Completing the Peer Review by December 31, 2022, will help maintain the continuity of their existing Peer Review Certificate.
