GST officers in Gujarat have seized stolen copper scrap valued at Rs 29.10 lakh. The theft was discovered after a truck carrying the scrap, confiscated on November 18, 2021, was found to be missing a significant portion of its cargo a few weeks later. The missing copper had been replaced with mild steel scrap.
The Surat police have registered a case in connection with a theft of 4,279 kilogram of copper scrap from a truck that was confiscated and parked in the compound of Gujarat State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) office at Nanpura in Gujarat.
The stolen articles amounted to Rs 29.10 lakh, police said
