The Finance Minister stated that an overall improvement in health infrastructure will help build people's confidence and aid in the revival of the economy.

The webinar was on "Building Healthcare Infrastructure for New India," bringing together over 100 stakeholders from the healthcare industry and banks to discuss strengthening the Indian healthcare ecosystem.

LGSCAS is a government scheme providing a guarantee to banks for loans given for new or expansion projects related to healthcare infrastructure, aiming to upscale medical facilities, especially in underserved areas.

LGSCAS provides a guarantee of 50% for brownfield projects and 75% for greenfield projects for loans up to Rs. 100 crore, excluding 8 Metropolitan Tier 1 cities. For aspirational districts, the guarantee is 75% for both project types.

The scheme is applicable to eligible loans sanctioned up to March 31, 2022, or until Rs. 50,000 crore is sanctioned, whichever occurs first.

The Finance Minister emphasised the need to ramp up capacities, technology, better facilities, and, most importantly, trained manpower for the optimal utilisation of healthcare infrastructure.
