The Ministry of Finance has disbursed the eleventh weekly instalment of Rs.6,000 crore to states and Union Territories to address the Goods and Services Tax (GST) compensation shortfall. This brings the total released to Rs.66,000 crore. The funds are part of a special borrowing window established by the government to cover revenue deficits arising from GST implementation.

The shortfall is being met through a special borrowing window set up by the Government of India, which borrows money on behalf of the states and UTs.
Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim did not receive funds as they do not have a revenue gap due to GST implementation.
The amount borrowed this week was at an interest rate of 5.1057%. The average interest rate for all borrowings so far is 4.7271%.
States have also been granted additional borrowing permission equivalent to 0.50% of their Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) to help mobilise financial resources.
