How to calculate the residential status for indian crew people
Replies (2)

A  member of a crew shall be considered a Resident when –

  • He is in India for at least 182 days

Or a crew member is considered as Non Resident Indian (NRI) for income tax purposes, when he has spent less than 182 days in India.

While calculating this stay of 182 days, the entire period mentioned in the Continuous Discharge Document shall be excluded.

better to use passport stamping, to assess the number of days stayed in India
