If the assesse doesnt the demand amount for a year, then in case of refund determined for any other year, the pending due amount would be adjusted against the refund.

Yes, Jitender is right, if the demand taxes are not paid throughout the year, the same will be arrears demand for the next year and if there is refund persisting for next year then CPC will issue notice of adjusment of the arrears for 30days time and if no arrears tas is paid till then the CPC automatically adjusts the arrears amount in refund amount and will issue the excess refund after adjustment. hence there is no need to voluntarily ask the ITO.
