Dear Sirs

My husband is a s/w engr and he is wkg for a pvt co in blr.

Last year (12-13) he received a sum of Rs.15000/- p a towards medical allownace and this was not deducted in his form 16. Our auditor said only if the form 16 reflects he will take it otherwise if he refile the return, the IT ppl will ask for 1000 queries and just for this 1500 rs you have to spend 5000 rs and your time and my time would also waste.

But i have a query ...that....the same company has deducted a sum of Rs.10927 towards medical allowance last year (11-12) this year they have not deducted. Is it a mistkae of the company??? can the form 16 be revised if we call the company and ask for??

If not, can we deduct on our own and refile the tax for this year, and if any query comes from the IT dept, we can show the last year (11-12) Form 16 and clarify them

Pls help me out on this

Dear Roshni,

I suppose you are talking about th reimbursement of medical expenses.

this is not taxable upto 15000. even though the same is not shown in the form 16, you should claim the same in the ITR. if the query comes up, you can show the form 16 to prove that since this was not deducted by the employer, the same is been separately taken by youi in the ITR
