Salary Survey- Chartered Accountants - 2008

2008-2009--The average salary offered to the newly qualified Chartered Accountants is about Rs. 6.11 lacs per annum .Highest salary offered for domestic posting in the Campus Placement Programme of ICAI is Rs. 10.61 Lacs per annum.Highest salary offered for InternationalProgramme is Rs. 21.00 Lacs per annum.IT Software sector (16.16%) is amongst the highest recruiter of all sectors, but
sectors like Mining (8.42%), Banking (7.52%), Financial Services (6.40%), Oil & Gas Refining (5.50%) are the major recruiters.

2008-Demand for Chartered Accountants in India are going up. There are now more opprtunities for CAs in India then qualified professionals available.Growth in the finance and accounting outsourcing (KPOs/ BPOs) will only add to the demand for CAs in the coming years. According to one estimate India would need 50,000 CAs a year by the end of 2010. At present about 9,000-10,000 CAs pass out from India every year. Salaries offered in the campus placements in ICAI. There was approx. 50% jump in the campus placements in ICAI in the salary range of Rs. 5,00,000 - 7, 49,000/- this year compared to last year .

Major Highlights of the Campus Placement Programme - in ICAI :2008

CA Salary Survey (India)-Highest salary offered for Chartred Accountants for International posting in the Campus Placement Programme was Rs. 16.17 Lacs per annum.Highest salary offered for domestic posting in the Campus Placement Programme is Rs. 12.00 Lacs per annum.The average salary offered to the newly qualified Chartered Accountants is about Rs. 6 lacs per annum.Banking sector (13.97%) is amongst the highest recruiter of all sectors, but sectors like IT Software (11.30%), Oil & Gas refining (8.87%), Financial Services
(8.32%), Mining (5.65%) are the major recruiters.Source-icai webiste.

Major Highlights of the Campus Placement Programme - in ICAI :February-March 2007:

a) Highest Salary paid to candidates for International posting in the Campus Placement Programme is Rs. 38.25 Lacs ( USD+ $85000 ).
b) Highest Salary paid to candidates for Indian posting in the Campus Placement Programme is Rs. 10 Lacs.
c) No. of candidates placed in any single Campus placement programme since the introduction of Campus Placement Services by the Institute is 1840
d) No. of candidates who have been made salary offer of Rs. 5.00 lacs and above is 798.


In the February-March 2007 Campus Placement Programme the maximum salary offered to four candidates were Rs. 38.25 lacs (USD $85000) per annum for International Posting. For Indian posting the maximum salary offered to nine candidates were Rs. 10
