OPPORTUNITY TO WORK IN NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA

Professional Development Committee (PDC) of ICAI is working with Business

Development, Emerging Markets team of Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) to facilitate

recruitment of members of ICAI for employment in Nova Scotia, Canada. NSBI is a

trade and business development body established to facilitate development of trade,

business and investment in Nova Scotia.

PDC is facilitating recruitment of Indian chartered accountants for employment in entities

in Nova Scotia. As an initial step, PDC will facilitate recruitment of five Chartered

Accountants and ICAI and NSBI will facilitate the entire process.

The skill set requirements for these five openings is set out below. Expression of Interest

is invited from interested members. Team from Nova Scotia will visit India during this

year (some time in October/November) for selection of five candidates.

A meeting of the applicants in the first short list will be organized prior to the visit of the

Nova Scotia team to brief various aspects like life style in Nova Scotia, educational

facilities, availability of accommodation, obtaining of work VISA and other similar

aspects.

Position 1 : Senior Account Manager

Description: The Senior Account Manager is responsible for reviewing all funds in their

group, managing a group of staff people (Fund Accountants/Senior Fund

Accountants/Account Managers), responsible for training and development of staff, and

acting as main point of contact for external auditors.

Most important tasks and responsibilities :

·  Review of Daily/Weekly P&L/NAV estimates;

·  Review Monthly Net Asset Value preparation, which includes:

o Cash and Position Reconciliations;

o Expense Accruals;

o Review all capital activity that pertains to the funds;

o Partner/Shareholder Allocation calculations/schedules - includes review of

admin/management fees/incentive fees calculations;

·  Monthly Financial Statement preparation and preparation of the YE financial

statements and financial highlights;

·  Implementing training initiatives;

·  Other Ad Hoc Reports;

·  Client relationship manager and the main client contact person;

·  Special Projects as needed.

Following background and competences are expected:

·  5-10 years of fund accounting experience in a Hedge Fund, Hedge Fund

Administrator, or other alternative investment financial institution where the

accountant has gained financial products knowledge

·  Strong Excel experience

·  Excellent communication skills

·  Financial Statement Preparation

Position 2 – Senior Fund Accountant

Your most important tasks and responsibilities are:

The position of Senior Fund Accountant will involve the following tasks and responsibilities:

·  Daily/Weekly/Monthly Net Asset Value preparation, which includes:

o Cash and Portfolio Reconciliations exposed to futures, forwards, options,

fixed income, equities;

o Income and Expense Accruals;

o Daily analysis of traders P&L;

·  Evaluate confirms and trades for settlements;

·  Partner/Shareholder Allocation calculations, including incentive and management

calculations;

·  Verify month end market prices for all open positions;

·  Financial Statement preparation;

·  Other Ad Hoc Reports as needed.

You will have the following background and competences:

·  3+ years of fund accounting experience in a Hedge Fund Accountant, Hedge

Fund Administrator, Mutual Fund or other financial institution where the

accountant has gained financial products knowledge;

·  Familiar with various methods for the calculation of incentive and

management fees;

·  Working knowledge of Excel and Word;

·  Good communication skills - Discussions with clients, custodians and prime

brokers to resolve trading, operational and accounting issues Financial

Statement Preparation and Public Accounting experience is a plus;

·  Graduation in Accounting or Finance a MUST;

Position 3 – Hedge Fund Accountant

Your most important tasks and responsibilities are:

The position of Hedge Fund Accountant will involve the following tasks and responsibilities:

·  Preparing periodical financial reporting for the Hedge Funds, including the

determination of “Net Asset Value”

·  Preparing the Statement of asset and Liabilities and Profit and Loss Statement

·  Maintaining contact with Investment Managers, Investors, Banks and Brokers

·  Monitoring of irregularities an developments through ad-hoc reports

·  Controlling payment transactions

·  Liaising with international clients and other Citco Offices worldwide, to ensure that

client needs are met.

You will have the following background and competences:

·  A bachelor degree in accounting, finance, or economics

·  Affinity with investments and figures

·  Attention to detail

·  A team player, able to cope with individual responsibilities

·  Highly accurate with excellent communication skills

·  Proficient in MS Excel and MS Word

·  Excellent proficiency in English (both verbal and written)

·  Working experience in the financial area or public accounting is an advantage

Position 4 - Supervisor

Description: The Supervisor will be capable of preparing financial reports, in an

international and dynamic environment, for our clients who consist of investment

managers and institutional investors within those Hedge Funds as well as manage a

group of Hedge Fund Accountants and provide training and coaching to their staff.

Your most important tasks and responsibilities are:

·  Monitor compliance of various agreements with the clients;

·  Ensure 100% accuracy in the processing of corporate actions;

·  Assist with new fund setups;

·  Regularly monitor status of various accounts to ensure deadlines are met;

·  Review accounting work and reconciliation packages prepared by staff;

·  Review work to ensure reasonability of all matters affecting the NAV, classification of

assets and liabilities, and capital transactions;

·  Review the calculation of hedge fund specific expenses (eg. management fees, incentive

fees, Citco fees);

·  Ensure incentive fees agree to NTAS reports;

·  Ensure adherence to all internal and external audit standards;

·  Prepare and/or review financial statements;

·  Participate in the fiscal year end audit process and provide information to auditors as

required;

·  Ensure all checklists are utilized;

·  Utilize SAS 70 checklist to ensure all procedures are followed accurately and

consistently;

·  Assist Account Manager with allocation of work to staff;

·  Carry out manager’s delegation;

·  Communicate with colleagues about administrative problems and devise plans to

address them;

·  Keep managers abreast of all material issues affecting the NAV production process;

·  Assist fund accounting staff to resolve day-to-day issues.

You will have the following background and competences:

·  Bachelor degree in accounting, finance, economics or professional accounting

designation

·  affinity with investments and figures;

·  attention to details;

·  a team player, able to cope with individual responsibilities;

·  highly accurate and excellent communication skills;

·  proficiency with MS Excel and Word;

·  excellent proficiency in English, verbal and written;

·  working experience in the financial area or public accounting is an advantage;

·  experience managing and training staff;

·  Demonstrated ability to work in changing, fast-paced work environment.

Position 5 – Account Manager

Description: The Account Manager will form part of a professional team responsible for

financial reporting for a portfolio of international hedge funds and manage a team of

accountants, maintain client contacts plus interact with colleagues from other Citco

offices.

Your most important tasks and responsibilities are:

·  Prepare monthly reporting package for the client

·  Review monthly accounting work of staff of approximately 10 fund accountants

·  Assist staff with their monthly work whenever the need arises

·  Review monthly financial statements and reconciliation packages prepared by staff

·  Act as liaison with the client on matters relating to the preparation of the monthly

reporting package

·  Act as liaison with the auditors

·  Prepare responses to the client on any number of issues and queries which they are

requesting from time to time

·  Review administrative / accounting procedures and recommend solutions in order to

work towards a more efficient NAV production process

You will have the following background and competences:

·  Masters or Bachelor degree in accounting, finance or comparable work experience

·  Accounting experience of hedge / mutual funds or investment companies

·  Supervisory / managerial experience

·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·  Skilled computers, including advanced MS Excel

·  Demonstrated financial reporting / analytical / organizational skills

·  Demonstrated leadership skills;

·  Demonstrated ability to work in a changing, fast-paced work environment
