Mahagst, the Department of Goods and Services Tax of the state of Maharashtra has taken an initiative with the objective of providing ease of doing business. Where taxpayers all across the nation are dealing with glitches in the portal for long time. Mahagst portal highlighted on certain initiatives by the government for the ease of doing business. One of the key features of this portal is that it is made available in the regional Language of Maharashtra (Marathi).

The initiatives on www.mahagst.gov.in cover the following:

1. Online process of GST registration and refund

The GST Registration Process on mahagst portal is start to end online and faceless. The registration can be applied on the common GST portal, the application will be auto-approved if the registration authority does not take any action within three working days. Thus in no case, the applicant has to visit the registration authority. The GST registration process is quite simple highlights the mahagst portal. The department highlighted how no fees and no account details are asked for while an applicant is getting a GST registration. As far as the provisional Refund processing and disbursement is concerned it is completely online and faceless. Within 22 Days from the date of Refund Application provisional Refund is disbursed through NEFT directly in the registered bank account.

2. Unified portal for PT/MVAT/CST Registration

The GST Department of the state of Maharashtra has a unified portal for registration under PT/MVAT/CST with MAITRI portal of Industries Department. https://maitri.mahaonline.gov.in/

 

The registration portal was notified under the Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act, 2015 to ensure timeliness. The PT registration is granted in just one day if the registration application is correct and complete.

3. Online process of GST payment and return filing on mahagst portal

The process of making a GST payment or filing a GST return is completely online on mahagst portal. For small taxpayers the facility of Over the counter is also readily available. Registration process under MVAT/CST/PT/GST completely online. An applicant is not required to visit Department. Any defect found is communicated to the applicant online and the compliance to the same defect memo is also taken online. The Registration Certificate is also available for download and also sent by email.

 

4. Authority for Advance Ruling established under mahagst

The Maharashtra Authority for Advance Ruling and The Maharashtra Appellate Authority for Advance Ruling has been constituted by the Government of Maharashtra. To make it easy for the taxpayers. All the information that is the procedure, checklist and list of orders passed are available on the mahagst portal.

5. Check your Refund ARN Status on mahagst portal

One of the initiatives for the taxpayers is the facility to track your current ARN Status on the mahagst portal.
