ESIC Payment: How to make ESIC payment online

What is ESIC?

ESIC i.e. Employees' State Insurance Corporation is one of the two main statutory social security bodies under the ownership of Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, the other being the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation. This fund is managed by the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) according to rules and regulations stipulated in the ESI Act 1948.

The scheme basically provides medical and financial assistance to the employees and their families when an employee is unable to perform his duties due to sickness, injury etc.

Employees must be subscribed for the scheme to get the medical care and other benefits it replaces the loss of salary of employees during their need time.

ESIC Online Payment

This is a self-financing scheme, where the employees and the employers make regular monthly contributions to the scheme at a certain percentage of their wages.

Applicability

It is applicable to any entity that employs 10 or more people such as hotels, restaurant that not engaged in manufacturing,cinemas, road motor transport establishments, newspaper establishments, private educational and medical institutions.

Minimum number of Employees to be subscribed under the scheme is varies state wise.

Wage limit

Employees with a monthly salary within Rs.21,000 are entitled to get the benefits of the scheme under the ESI Act.

How to contribute?

Employers can contribute monthly through portal. Currently online payment is enabled for SBI account holders having a net banking facility.

Two important aspects for making online payments are:

  • SBI internet banking user id and password
  • ESIC user id and password

Steps for payment

Step : 1 : ESIC PORTAL LOGIN

Now visit the official website & login in the portal same using ESIC user Id and Password which is provided during Registration.

After successful login, a page will display various hyperlinks under each module which again redirects to specific sections.

Step : 2 : Monthly contribution

  • You can contribute monthly by "Online Monthly contribution Screen"
  • Click on Submission &"Preview" page will be opened
  • Click on "Submit"
  • You can manually type the contribution against each employee or can upload an excel file as an attachment for bulk upload.
  • After submission user can make the online payment via SBI net banking by clicking on Pay online
  • Click on "ok" to proceed further with the online payment
  • For further reference kindly note challan number & it will redirect you to online net banking gateway
  • After making payment through SBI net banking SUCCESS PAGE WILL BE SHOWN
 

How to create Challan online

To create Challan online following steps need to be followed on site

  • Click generate Challan link, screen will be redirected, click view.
  • The record against which the payment is to be made by the employer should be selected, enter the amount users want to pay.
  • Select Online Option & massage will be displayed, click on OK to continue
  • Now challan has been successfully generated & if user want to re-verify it then click on button on the right side which shows "Online Challan Double verification link"
  • Now enter the Challan number in the text box of Challan number and click submit.
  • Success page will be displayed ( Re print if required)
 

Due date for payment of ESIC

The ESI Contribution payment last date is the 15th of every month.
