Legacy of Shaktikanta Das

Sanjay Malhotra steps into the shoes of Shaktikanta Das, who has served as the 25th Governor of the RBI since December 12, 2018. Das, a seasoned economic policymaker, navigated India's central bank through turbulent times, including the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical tensions such as the Ukraine conflict.

During his tenure, Das focused on maintaining economic stability, keeping inflation in check, and supporting growth. He was honoured globally as the "Central Banker of the Year" for two consecutive terms for his leadership in steering India's rapidly growing economy.

Looking Ahead

As Malhotra prepares to take the helm, his multifaceted experience and strong leadership are expected to bolster the RBI's ongoing efforts to manage inflation, ensure financial stability, and support economic growth. Analysts anticipate continuity in monetary policies while addressing new challenges, including global economic headwinds.
