  1. Record-Breaking Seizure: The seizure of Rs 1100 crore worth of cash and jewellery represents a substantial increase from the Rs 390 crore seized during the previous Lok Sabha elections in 2019.
  2. Top Performers: Delhi and Karnataka emerge as frontrunners in the seizure drive, with each state accounting for over Rs 200 crore in confiscated assets. Tamil Nadu closely follows with Rs 150 crore in seized assets. Additionally, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Odisha collectively contribute over Rs 100 crore to the total seizure.
  3. Vigilance and Enforcement: With the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in effect since March 16, the Income Tax Department has maintained heightened vigilance, cracking down on unaccounted cash and valuables that could potentially sway voters.
  4. Central Agency Alertness: Central agencies have been placed on high alert to ensure strict adherence to election guidelines. Special attention is directed towards monitoring the movement of cash, liquor, freebies, drugs, jewellery, and other items with the potential to influence voters.
  5. State-Level Measures: Each state has established dedicated 24x7 control rooms to monitor and prevent the illegal movement of cash, thwarting attempts by politicians to exploit unaccounted wealth during elections.
