Last updated: 09 March 2026

Two youths, in a dramatic incident similar to the movie Special 26, posing as officers of the Income Tax Department, were caught while attempting a fake raid in the Sainagar area.

The accused, identified as Kisan Parbat and Chetan Chavan, arrived at a house in Shri Niwas Colony claiming to be Mumbai Income Tax officials with a search warrant. They asked the family to gather documents, cash and valuables while pretending to record the search on a mobile phone.

However, the homeowner's family grew suspicious and contacted acquaintances, who took the suspects to a Chartered Accountant for verification. When inconsistencies in their claims surfaced, the police were alerted.

The Ramnagar Police detained the duo and later confirmed that the identity cards and search warrant were fake. Authorities also seized mobile phones, forged ID cards and fake warrant documents.

Police have advised citizens to verify the identity of officials before allowing any search and to report suspicious activity immediately. An investigation is ongoing to check if more people were involved.
